Woorddragers | Bearers of Words

This is an open category of works, through which I explore the use of words in my practice. It started with a collection of wooden sticks, engraved with words, that I made over a longer period of time for various reasons. Some of them are mnemonics to carry with me (like 'print' to not forget to print something), others I made to give a word material presence in my studio. This led me to consider what words I find interesting to work with. First of all it's the equality of something as a mundane as a shopping list and a philosophical concept. Secondly, as an object or image, I am interested in words that allow to be actualised in various contexts. For instance, a wooden stick can be picked up and placed in a concrete situation, where - as object and word - it marks a new relation.
