A Glimpse of the Garden

A series of pinhole photographs of the garden of the Houtkust residency in Houthem (NL). The residency is located in a former school building that already for decades has offered studio space for artists. I was intrigued by the remainders of work that I found scattered around the garden. The title of the series refers to a short experimental film by Marie Menken from 1957. It's a 16 mm film, the Bolex camera "scanning" the garden, as it were. I find it a fascinating piece of work for showing how registration becomes poetic evocation.
