This is a category of works made at the Frans Masereel Centrum in Kasterlee (B), an international centre for graphic art, during a residency in 2021. It started with a question that I asked a group of people: can you give me words to take with me into the printing workshop? This question was my way of working with the notion of the public, which is always there in printing. However, rather than making something for an undefined group of people, each work is made for one person in particular. In a way, the project is a series of exchanges: give me words and I give them back to you as an image. Each person who gave me words received one print of the edition. The words are sometimes written by the person themselves, sometimes they gave me a quote. The form of the individual works are developed partly in response to the content of the words and sometimes as a response to what I know of the person's interests.
